Police investigating a fatal house fire have made a further arrest.
Emergency services were called to a property on Berry Street in Clifton at 12.35am on Wednesday 22 March 2017, to a report of a fire.
Following a search by fire-fighters, the body of 47-year-old Thomas Jones was discovered inside the property.
A home office post mortem has now concluded that he died from multiple stab wounds.
A 37-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder and have now been bailed, pending further enquiries.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Paul Walker of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “While we have a man in custody and two people on bail, we continue to carry out extensive enquiries and need anyone with any information to come forward. Our thoughts remain with Thomas’ family during an extremely sad time.”
