Police in Huddersfield are appealing for witnesses after a robbery on Saturday morning (18 June).
The incident happened between 5:15 and 5:30am; the female victim aged 55, was walking to work along Fartown Green Road and became aware someone was directly behind her.
The male suspect grabbed her handbag, pulling it off her shoulder. The victim kept hold of her bag and was thrown to the ground. The suspect ran off with the bag.
An unknown male came to the victim's aid and managed to recover the handbag, but a purse had been stolen which had some money in it.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, 5ft 2", slim build, dark hair, clean shaven. He was wearing dark jeans and a dark thin summer coat.
PC Nicole Senior of Kirklees CID, said: "The victim was understandably shaken up by this incident and I would like to appeal to the public for anyone who witnessed this to come forward to assist with our enquiries.
"I would also like to appeal to the man who bravely came to the assistance of the victim to contact the police.
