Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision between Junction 44 and Junction 43 of the A1 Southbound in Leeds.
The incident happened at around 10.09am yesterday (15 June) at an area known as Aberford Dip on the A1.
A Iveco HGV collided with a male who is believed to have been next to a Mercedes recovery van which was stationary on the hard shoulder of the carriageway.
A 36-year-old man sadly died from his injuries.
Sergeant Ann Drury from the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "This is an incredibly tragic incident and we are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed this collision or indeed seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision to contact us.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101 quoting 449 of 15/06."
