The recently released film Mahanati has been declared a huge success. Along with setting the box office on fire, the movie has been praised for its inspiring tale on yesteryear actress Savithri and for the cast’s powerful performances.

From celebs to critics to stars, everyone has been raving about the biopic. But unfortunately the movie has upset a few one of them, one being Gemini Ganesan’s real life daughter.

According to reports on New Indian Express, here’s what Gemini Ganesan daughter, Dr Kamala Selvaraj, had to say: "The film leaves you wondering where the facts end and the fiction begins. It has defamed our father. What has been shown on screen is a one-sided version that glorifies Savitri, and bluntly ignores many other aspects of her life.” She also revealed that Savithri had many relationships and that it was not her father who influenced her to become an alcoholic. She also clarified that the filmmaker did not speak to close friends of Gemini Ganesan. Also, she was miffed by the fact that Gemini Ganesan was made to look like a jobless person who hung around on the sets of Mahanati when he was a top actor in his times.

Well, what do you the makers of Mahanati have to say to that? Interestingly Dulquer Salmaan has been praised for his portrayal of the top actor. SS Rajamouli couldn’t stop gushing about him. The actor has received rave reviews. Keerthy Suresh who played Savithri has specially been lauded for her commendable effort to play the yesteryear actress. The movie also starred Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Devarakonda in lead roles.
