According to Gulf News, the sequel of Na Maloom Afraad is still under review by the National Media Council.
Na Maloom Afraad 2, a sequel to the comedy Na Maloom Afraad, awaited its much-hyped release in UAE on the 31st of August. However, the release has been put on a hold as the film still awaits clearance from the National Media Council.
Perhaps the extra added sweetness to the character of Sheikh Sultan Al-Baklava hasn't really gone down well with the original Sheikhs in the region. As Mohsin Abbas Haider told HIP in an earlier conversation mentioning Na Maloom Afraad 2 to be a boys' film, it seems the comedy centralising the Sheikh's golden commode hasn't gone down well with the UAE censor board.
According to Gulf News, the release of Na Maloom Afraad 2 across the GCC countries has been put on hold by the UAE censor board. A quote from the distributor mentioned in Gulf News also confirms a halt on all promotional activities for the film in the region.
Reportedly NMA 2 lead cast including Fahad Mustafa, Javed Sheikh, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Hania Aamir, producer Fizza Ali Meerza and director Nabeel Qureshi had flown to Dubai for the release on the 31st of August and promotional activities for the movie.
However, team NMA 2 was informed of the hold by the UAE censor board this afternoon following which all activities were called off until further clarity was received.
As per the tabloid, Na Maloom Afraad 2 might be allowed a release across UAE on the same date following a few significant cuts from the movie, which will however compromise the main plot of the film, which actually centres around the character of Sheikh Sultan Al-Baklava, played by Nayyer Ejaz.
Keeping in view Mohsin Abbas Haider's qoute to HIP, "A confirmation is still awaited until the film is finally reviewed by the censor board tomorrow", after which the final date of the release in the UAE will be announced.
