Aamir Khan’s Dangal crosses the 800 crore mark to become the second highest grossing Indian film of all time

This is a fantastic time for Indian cinema. Baahubali 2 has already proved the might of the Indian film industry abroad, crossing Rs 100 crore in North America and doing exceedingly well in other parts too.

The added bonanza is that Aamir Khan’s Dangal has become the second highest grossing film of all time raking in more than 800 crores. Its collection stands at Rs 824 crore after it amassed more than 80 crores in China in its first weekend. This takes it beyond Rajkumar Hirani’s PK, the collection of which is Rs 792 crore so far. Aamir’s films have always done well in China and Dangal is no exception.

Dangal stars Aamir Khan with Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. It was the biggest hit of last year. It was screened at around 7,000 cinemas in China, which is a huge release for an Indian film in the country.

The opening of Dangal in China was tremendous with the film making more than Rs 80 crore in the opening weekend. The film has benefitted from Aamir’s popularity in China as well as the promotional blitzkrieg. He travelled all over the country to places like Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu.
