A jury at Bradford Crown Court has found two brothers guilty of kidnapping a man.
35 year old Shafiqul Ali and 38-year-old Shamsul Islam both of St George's Place, Elizabeth Street, Little Horton, Bradford, will be sentenced on April 15 for their part in the kidnap of Romanian man Christian Stanica from his flat in Mannville Terrace, Little Horton, on August 31 last year. The kidnappers believed the victim had information about the disappearance of drugs from a flat he lived opposite from.
Shafiqul Ali was found not guilty by the jury of assault causing actual bodily harm on the direction of the trial judge not guilty of a charge of making a threat to kill.
Their co-defendants 27 year old Rashel Ahmed, of Browning Street, Barkerend, Bradford; 25 year old Monzur Ali, of Sunrise Court, Little Horton; and 26 year old Ali Hussain, of Tivoli Place, Little Horton, pleaded guilty during the trial to kidnap, assault causing actual bodily harm, and making threats to kill. All were remanded in custody until the sentencing hearing.
