Rory McIlroy misses cut in Dell Championship

Rory McIlroy has lost the opportunity to defend his title at the Dell Championship, failing to make the cut for the next round.

The world number four from Northern Ireland missed out by just a stroke, with four bogeys and a double bogey in a 74 for a four-over total in Boston.

The 28-year-old has been without a win for the whole of 2017.

Spaniard Jon Rahm birdied five of his final eight holes in a 66 and leads by two at nine under.

First-round leader Dustin Johnson, the world number one, had two double bogeys in a 72 and is five shots adrift.
