Rafael Nadal has broken a 34-year record set by John McEnroe.
The world number one made 50 successive set wins on a single surface as he moved into the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open.
Nadal, 31, beat Argentine Diego Schwartzman 6-3 6-4 on his speciality clay surface.
The Spaniard’s 50 sets have included tournament wins in Barcelona, Monte Carlo and last year's French Open.
American McEnroe's 49-set winning run came on carpet in 1984 and included him clinching the Madrid Indoor Open title.
