Britain’s only prospect in the men’s singles draw at the Australian Open produced the win of his career to proceed to the second round.
Kyle Edmund, 23, knocked out 11th seed Kevin Anderson 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4 in Melbourne.
Edmund, who is ranked 49th, twice came back from a set down and recovered from 2-0 behind in the final set to take the victory.
He will meet Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin in the second round.
