British number one Johanna Konta is continuing her progress towards the US Open after winning in the first round of the Connecticut Open.
The 27-year-old beat world number 146, Germany's Laura Siegemund, 6-2 7-5.
Konta, now ranked 46th, will play Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro in the second round.
She is the only British woman with direct entry into main draw of the US Open, which begins on 27 August.
