Conor McGregor is to be stripped of his UFC lightweight title.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the 29-year-old Irishman will lose the title during UFC 223 this Saturday 7 April in Brooklyn.
McGregor has taken an 18-month stint away from the championship, losing in a boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway will headline this weekend’s event, the winner of which will take the belt.
