Pakistan doctors call off strike

Doctors in the Sindh province of Pakistan have called off any further strike action following three days of walk-outs.

Dawn News reports that medical staff forced closures of outpatient departments across the region, causing suffering for needy patients.

Protesters demanded an increase in salaries and assurances that their health insurance would match those offered to government medics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

Following negotiations with authorities, threats of further industrial action have been rescinded.
