At least nine people have died in a forest fire in India.
Authorities say 21 people have been rescued from the blaze in the Kurangini hills, located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
Reports say that those killed were a part of a group who were trekking to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Local sources say the military were deployed to the area to assist with rescue efforts, with residents also joining in the effort.
