Man held over ‘terrorist’ joke on India flight

A man has been detained in India after attempting to make a ‘terrorist’ joke on social media whilst on board a plane.

Yogvedant Poddar had allegedly covered half of his face with a handkerchief and captioned the photo: "Terrorist on flight, I destroy women's hearts".

BBC reports that a co-passenger, who saw the photo, alerted the crew on the Jet Airways flight from Kolkata to Mumbai.

Police say Mr Poddar was going to send the photo to a friend over Snapchat.

Airport officials said the plane was turned around on the tarmac and Mr Poddar was detained for "mischievous activity on board" as he was found using language "which was inferred as a security threat".
