India government broadcasts mob lynching warning message

India’s government has called on broadcasters to spread a message warning against mob lynching in the country.

The information and broadcasting ministry has issued a direction to public broadcasters, Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) to run messages highlighting the consequences of being involved with group killings.

The move comes in the wake of a Supreme Court order on 24 September that asked all states to comply with its directions on curbing vigilantism.
