A fire broke out at a vast pilgrimage site in India, a day before festivities are due to begin.
Hindustan Times reports a “massive” blaze took hold in part of the camp set up for the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad (recently renamed Prayagraj).
The area was evacuated and damage was caused to a tent and a car. No casualties were reported.
Between now and March organisers expect arond 120 million pilgrims to bathe at the Sangam confluence – believed to be the world’s biggest gathering of people.
