Bollywood star Reema Lagoo dies, aged 59

The Bollywood star Reema Lagoo has died at the age of 59.

The actress, famous for playing the “loving mother” role, passed away in a Mumbai hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on Wednesday night, 17 May.

She was a feature in many hit films and soaps. She also acted in several Marathi language plays.

Lagoo started her career in the late 1970s, and became famous for playing the mother to many lead characters.

Tributes have poured in from across the world, with one mourner on Twitter calling her ‘the greatest mom of Indian cinema’.
