Arrest made after lion prowls the streets of Karachi

A man has been arrested and his pet taken into custody after a lion was seen on the streets of Karachi.

A video circulating on social media showed a lion being transported in the back of a pickup truck in the Karimabad area of the city.

After concerns were raised about the safety of citizens in the metropolis police made a move to detain the animal and its owner.

The owner, identified as Saqlain, claimed he had been taking the lion to a doctor. He said that, since the lion was unwell, it was seated in the back of the pickup and was being transported to its home.

He added that he possessed the required ownership documents for the lion.

The department dealing with the incident said that the license provided to the police had expired last year.
