Scotland’s Marc Austin wins triathlon bronze – Brownlees miss out

Marc Austin won bronze in the triathlon at the Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.

South Africa's Henri Schoeman took gold in 52 minutes 31 seconds, beating Australia's Jacob Birtwhistle.

Many eyes may have been on the Brownlee brothers, who completed a one-two finish in the last Games at Glasgow 2014. However, Alistair - a two-time Olympic champion and flag-bearer for England at the opening ceremony - faded to finish 10^th.

His brother Jonny was alongside 24-year-old Austin for much of the 5km run but could not keep pace with the Scot and finished in 53 minutes nine seconds.
