Manchester City will hold contract talks with manager Pep Guardiola over the summer.
BBC Sport claims the club are attempting to build a dynasty to rival Manchester United’s. The Red Devils won eight of the first 11 Premier Leagues titles under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, a feat City would not mind replicating.
They beat Tottenham 4-1 on Saturday 16 December, to extend their record winning run in the Premier League to 16 games.
City currently sit 11 points clear at the top from second-placed United.
Guardiola’s contract is due to expire in 2019. The Spaniard, formerly coach at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, arrived at the Etihad in the summer of 2016.
Despite not bringing home any silverware in his first campaign in England, his team are currently dominating the domestic league and have progressed into the last-16 of the Champions League.
