Man City fan critical after Schalke game

Manchester City has said one of the club’s fans is in a critical condition after travelling to watch their Champions League tie against Schalke in Germany.

The fan was involved in an alleged assault following the game on Wednesday. City have asked anyone with any information about the matter to contact police.

The Premier League side said in a statement: "The club are working with Greater Manchester Police and German Police to ascertain more information.

"Club staff have remained in Germany to support the family of [the] injured City fan."

City won the first leg of the last-16 tie 3-2.
