Gordon Strachan leaves Scotland job

Gordon Strachan has left his post as manager of Scotland.

Both parties came to an agreement with “mutual consent” on Thursday, 12 October, following two unsuccessful qualifying campaigns under the 60-year-old.

The Scotsman took up the position in January 2013, succeeding Craig Levein.

Scotland’s 2-2 draw in Slovenia last Sunday ended their hopes of finishing second in Group F and reaching the play-offs for qualification to the 2018 World Cup.

Strachan and his assistant Mark McGhee have stepped down with immediate effect.
