‘Giant tent’ could spell end of cricket rain delays

A giant tent is to be discussed as the possible cure to rain delays in cricket matches.

The Telegraph has claimed an American company has approached the sport’s governing bodies with the idea of a giant transparent mesh tent that could cover pitches by being held up by wires attached to floodlights and a hot-air balloon in the centre.

The concept is believed to be two years away from becoming a reality and an England Cricket Board spokesperson has not confirmed any specific plans to utilise new technologies.
