Geraint Thomas became the first Welshman to win the Tour de France as he crossed the finish line on the 21st and final stage in Paris.
The Team Sky rider follows Sir Bradley Wiggins, winner of the 2012 edition, and Chris Froome, a four-time champion, as Britain celebrates the sixth victory in the race in seven years.
Team UAE’s Alexander Kristoff won the final sprint finish on the Champs-Elysees, with team mate Dan Martin picking up the overall combativity award for the three weeks.
Thomas beat Dutchman Tom Dumoulin by one minute 51 seconds in the general classification, with Froome third.
World champion Peter Sagan picked up his sixth green points jersey. Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe blew away his rivals to win the polka dot ‘king of the mountains’ jersey and compatriot Pierre Latour won the white jersey awarded to the best young rider (under the age of 26).
