England through to Women’s Euro 2017 quarter-final

England have successfully made it out of the group stage to the quarter-finals in the Women’s European Championships.

They beat Portugal, the lowest ranked team, to proceed to the next stage with a record of three wins in three games.

The Lionesses will meet France in the next stage of the competition.

England did not look as comfortable as in their previous matches in the 2-1 victory. Manager Mark Sampson made 10 changes to the side who beat Spain, resting players for what he must have assumed would be an easy victory.

England will play France on Sunday at 7.45pm.
