Australia tour beckons for England Golf internationals

England internationals Jake Burnage, David Hague, Matthew Jordan and Gian-Marco Petrozzi are about to start a four-week playing tour of Australia.

They will take in four championships during their trip, starting with next week’s Australian Master of the Amateurs at Royal Melbourne, from 9-12 January.

They follow up with: the Australian Amateur at Lake Karrinyup and Wanneroo golf clubs, from 16-21 January; the Avondale Amateur at Avondale Golf Club, from 23-26 January; and the New South Wales Amateur at Royal Canberra and Gungahlin Lake golf clubs from 29 January to 2 February.

The players are all members of the England Golf men’s squad:

Jake Burnage, 22, (Saunton, Devon) powered up the ranks in 2017 with wins in the South of England amateur and the Hampshire Hog, joint second place in the Brabazon Trophy and third in the Lytham Trophy.

David Hague, 21, (Malton & Norton, Yorkshire) made his mark with his win in the 2017 Lagonda Trophy, second place in the West of England championship and third in the Berkshire Trophy.

Matthew Jordan, 21, (Royal Liverpool, Cheshire) capped an outstanding 2017 with selection for GB&I’s Walker Cup team. He won the England Golf men’s order of merit after a season which included victory in the St Andrews Links Trophy.

Gian-Marco Petrozzi, 20, (Trentham, Staffordshire) impressed with a nine-shot win in the Welsh open and also had top 10s in the Portuguese amateur and St Andrews Links Trophy.
