A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died in Wigan.
Shortly after 3.45pm on Thursday 6 October 2016, police were called to Makinson Avenue, Wigan, to reports that a woman had been stabbed.
Officers attended and discovered a 42-year-old woman with stab wounds to the chest.
The woman was taken to hospital where she sadly died. An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.
A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning. Police are not currently looking for anyone else in respect of this matter.
