A woman has died after she became trapped between a van and a gatepost in Ashton.
Just after 3.00pm today Monday 8 October Greater Manchester Police were called to Buttermere Road.
On arrival officers discovered a woman in her 60s who was in a critical condition after becoming trapped by a grey Mercedes Panel Van on her drive.
The woman died as a result of her injuries.
Police are currently working to establish the full circumstances around the incident.
Sergeant Lee Westhead, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is an awful set of circumstances where a family have lost their loved one.
“We are currently working to establish the cause of this incident and we don’t believe anyone else is involved.
“However, we need to speak to more witnesses and are currently talking to neighbours and those on the street at the time of the incident.
“While we remain at the scene the road will be closed.”
