Vehicle involved in multiple fly-tips in the Queensbury area seized by Bradford Council

A vehicle involved in multiple fly-tipping incidents in Queensbury has been seized by officers from Bradford Council’s Environmental Enforcement Team with the assistance of officers from West Yorkshire Police’s Operation Steerside Team.

The red Ford Transit tipper van was seized in the Low Moor area of the Bradford district on Wednesday 25 October.

Over the last two months the Council’s Environmental Enforcement Officers have received numerous complaints of the vehicle fly-tipping waste in the Queensbury area on multiple occasions.

Footage of building, renovation and construction waste being tipped from the vehicle, on to a layby of a country lane, was caught on a motorist’s dash cam and the details were passed to the council.

Initial investigations to identify the location of the vehicle were held up as the vehicle was believed to be driven on false number plates.

Through intelligence gathering at a number of addresses, the vehicle was eventually located by the council’s Enforcement Officers and with the assistance of West Yorkshire Police and the Council’s Highways Enforcement Team and the van was seized.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby Bradford Council’s Executvie Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “This once again shows that collaborative working by both our Environmental and Highways Enforcement Teams as well as with West Yorkshire Police, has enabled prompt and decisive action to be taken to take this vehicle off the road and to disrupt the illegal waste activities of those involved.

“Our investigation is ongoing and we’re asking the registered keeper of the vehicle to make themselves known, to assist in our enquiries.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in sharing their dash cam footage with us in this case.”

If the vehicle is found not to be roadworthy or have any resale value it will be crushed.

Anyone who sees fly-tipping taking place is asked to note down as many details as possible, including times and dates and vehicle registration numbers and location and inform the council.

Also if anyone has dash cam or CCTV footage of flytipping taking place they’re asked to share it with the council to assist in the pursuit and prosecution of illegal waste carriers and fly-tippers that blight the Bradford District.
