Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Counter Terrorism Command [SO15] have this morning, Wednesday, 6 April, arrested a man and a woman for offences under the terrorism act.
A 45-year-old woman [A] was arrested at an address in north London on suspicion of disseminating a terrorist publication and supporting a proscribed organisation. A 49-year-old man [B] was arrested at an address in east London on suspicion of disseminating a terrorist publication.
Both have been taken to a south London police station where they remain pending further enquires.
The arrests have been made under PACE.
Officers are at present searching the addresses in north and east London.
The arrests are linked to the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party DHKP-C, a proscribed organisation, and are in relation to the distribution of a magazine believed to glorify acts of terrorism in Turkey, and inviting support for a proscribed organisation.
