Parts of the Bradford district will go bike crazy this weekend when the Tour de Yorkshire comes through on Sunday 5 May.

Stage Four of the race enters the Bradford district by The Raggalds pub in Queensbury.

It will go via Keelham, Denholme Clough and Haworth including the world famous Main Street. The professional cyclists will then cycle through Oakworth, Goose Eye including a categorised climb at Cote de Goose Eye before they leave the district on their way to Skipton.

The race is expected to reach the district around 12.55pm, be at Denholme at around 1pm, the Leeming area for 1.05pm. Haworth is expected to see the race at about 1.10pm, Oakworth and Holme House around 1.15pm, Laycock just before 1.20pm and Cote de Goose Eye at around 1.20pm.

As in previous years a caravan of decorated vehicles will travel the race route around two hours before the riders come through. They will get the crowd geared up for the race and be handing out freebies to spectators. The advertising caravan is scheduled to stop in Haworth at around 11.05am.

Phil Barker, Assistant Director for Sport and Culture, said: “This is an incredibly exciting event where people from across the district and beyond will get the chance to cheer on their cycling heroes including two former Tour de Yorkshire champions Greg Van Avermaet and Serge Pauwels, as well as seeing cycling superstars Mark Cavendish and Chris Froome on their own doorstep.

“So the race can pass safely through the district and everyone has a great time watching this spectacular event in safety, we ask that people plan ahead and have patience on the day.

“If you are planning to watch the race think about where you will watch from, how you will get there, where you may be able to park once you are there and how you will get home again.

“If you’ve got other plans for when the race comes through, have a look at the race route and the timings and plan your journey in advance.

“Your patience and co-operation on the day is really appreciated and once the race has passed through we will get things back to normal as soon as we can.

“We can’t wait to once again showcase the district to the world as part of the route of this year’s Tour de Yorkshire.”
