Active Bradford has announced that the Bradford Sports Awards will return for a second successive year in 2017.
Following the success of 2016’s fantastic inaugural event The 2017 Bradford Sports Awards, sponsored once again by Provident, will return to The Bradford Hotel on Thursday 2nd March.
Nineteen awards across five categories will recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals, teams, volunteers and organisations at every level of sport in Bradford district.
These will range from our professional clubs and future idols through to the grassroots volunteers who make sport happen every day across our district. This may also include those who were involved in the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games!
Chair of Active Bradford Wayne Jacobs said: “Following a brilliant inaugural event, we are delighted to start the countdown to the second annual Bradford Sports Awards.”
“The first year’s event demonstrated the incredible depth of sporting talent across our region, and we are confident that the Awards’ second year will uncover even more examples of sporting excellence and endeavour on our doorstep.”
Kersten England, Chief Executive of Bradford Council, said: “Our district has a fantastic sporting history and has produced some amazing talent in recent years, including our sporting heroes who have represented the country at international competitions such as the Olympics, Paralympics and Special Olympics.
“From hosting world class events such as the Tour de Yorkshire, supporting grassroots sport and organising mass participation events like Bradford City Runs and SkyRide to the exciting news that Bradford will be the location of the new Rugby League Museum, Bradford truly is the place to be for sport.
“These Bradford Sports Awards are the perfect opportunity for us to champion those who do so much for sport across our district and I’m sure there will be lots of nominations to choose from.”
Nominations are now open and members of the public are encouraged to nominate their club, family, school, event, coach or even workplace for the opportunity to have their accomplishments highlighted!
The nominations period is open 5th October – 30th November and nominations can be made online at www.activebradford.com/bsa where you can also view a full list of the awards categories and criteria.
