Police are appealing for information after a high value mayoral chain was stolen in a burglary in Kirklees.
The Meltham Urban Town Council Mayoral chain is clearly marked with the council's name, and was among items taken following a burglary at a property in the Meltham area overnight between Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1.
Also taken was the victim's 64 reg plate silver BMW M3 sport car.
DC Victoria Catania, who is investigating the offence, said "Clearly the chain has substantial emotional and historical significance for the council and the wider community in Meltham and it is something we are very keen to trace as quickly as possible."
