Bradford Council is staging two world class shows in City Park during autumn and winter.
French master light artists T.I.L.T, who brought the remarkable illuminated sculpture show, Garden of Light to Bradford Centenary Square in 2012, return with a stunning new show.
In October, 59 gigantic light sculptures will grace City Park’s mirror pool in Forest of Light which has been specifically designed for Bradford’s multi-award wining public space.
Visitors to the show can expect a breath-taking array of visual effects with beautiful iridescent shades of red, green, orange and gold reflecting in City Park’s mirror pool.
Huge wild thistles will burst into life like exploding fireworks whilst beautiful red tipped reeds will wave gently in the breeze.
Enormous luscious red flowers will break into bloom and giant vertical shards of golden light rain down from enormous illuminated fronds.
Forest of Light will be a visual feast and the council is encouraging people to bring their phones and share pictures on social media using the hashtag, #ForestofLight.
Later in the year, the local authority will stage its annual Christmas Lights Spectacular.
Bradford has a reputation for putting on alternative Christmas lights switch ons and this year’s event promises a dramatic show with high energy street theatre and dance, pyrotechnics and fireworks.
World-renowned British circus production company, Cirque Bijou, who’ve created pieces for Take That, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and the X Factor, bring their breath-taking Fire and Light Energy Dance shows to City Park.
Exceptional pyrotechnic effects and spectacular fire performances will be combined with cutting-edge lighting technology and expert street dance to create a dramatic spectacle.
Celebrated North Shields theatre company, Spark! will entertain the crowds with their otherworldly marching drummers act featuring vibrant musical arrangements, dazzling costumes, beautiful lighting design and dynamic choreography.
Sheffield-based, External Combustion will add sensational pyrotechnics and fireworks expertise to the show which builds up to an incredible grand finale.
Local children’s choirs will entertain the crowds with festive carols.
Forest of Light takes place in Bradford City Park from dusk until 10pm every night from 6-9 October and the Christmas Lights Spectacular will be staged on 19 November, 5-6pm.
Both events are free.
Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “Forest of Light and the Christmas Lights Spectacular are going to be incredible and I’m really looking forward to seeing them."
“City Park events have played, and continue to play, an important role in Bradford’s regeneration drawing people back into the city centre and generating positive word of mouth."
“Entry is free and everyone is welcome.”
