A rapist has finally been put behind bars 15 years after he subjected a woman to a terrifying attack.
Manchester Crown Court heard that DNA had been taken at the time from the 2001 attack and fifteen years later matched to Mian Farooqnadeem after he argued with a housemate and was accused of assault. His DNA was taken as a matter of procedure in the assault investigation and a match was found to the earlier crime.
Farooqnadeem, 38, of Duncan Road, Longsight, has now been jailed for eight years for rape and indecent assault.
