It’s already become a winning way to get from A to B in a West Yorkshire town … and now the search is on to come up with a name for Team Pennine’s Kirkheaton Quick bus.
The eye-catching two-tone pink single-decker is already turning heads and winning hearts in Huddersfield, with customer numbers on the route beating bus operator Team Pennine’s expectations since it first took to the road in early September.
And now, Team Pennine has launched a search to find a name for the bus which runs on the Kirkheaton Quick route – with a month’s free travel on buses right across the North of England up for grabs for one lucky winner.
Team Pennine CEO Alex Hornby said: “We’re looking for a memorable and eye-catching name for our Kirkheaton Quick bus, to help it stand out even more on the road in Huddersfield.
“The Kirkheaton Quick route was first put forward in our consultation with local residents, who told us they weren’t happy with existing bus routes run by others which didn’t serve their area properly.
“We saw clear evidence of demand for a direct link between the Kirkheaton area and Huddersfield town centre, using a straightforward route into town which opens up access to shops and services on Wakefield Road
“In its first month the route has proved an amazing success, with rising customer numbers ahead of expectations. Now we want to build on our positive relationship with the people of Kirkheaton by giving our bus an appropriate name, to reflect the pride of this West Yorkshire community.”
Ideas for a name for Team Pennine’s Kirkheaton Quick bus can be sent by email to: namethebus@transdevbus.co.uk, no later than Sunday 7 November 2021. The winner will see their choice of name proudly displayed on the front of the bus – and they’ll enjoy a month’s free unlimited travel on all of parent firm Transdev’s buses across the North of England.
The Kirkheaton Quick route runs every hour, six days a week between Upper Heaton, Kirkheaton, Waterloo and Huddersfield.
