A criminal in Manchester’s Strangeways prison has been caught with 13g of spice just two days after entering the jail.
It is believed the psychoactive substance dropped from 31-year-old Eric Best’s trousers during a cell search.
The convicted robber said in a police interview that he had been given the synthetic cannaboid when he first entered the prison, having become addicted on the outside. He said he was trying to stop using the substance, because he has seen ‘what it does to people’.
Spice is a former legal high and is currently plaguing the city of Manchester due to the uptake of the drug by rough sleepers and the severe reactions it can cause.
