The Major Collision and Enquiry Team ( MCET) has today (22nd August 2023) issued a family image and tribute to Elise Thomas (17) as they continue to investigate a collision between a red Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa on the M1 on Saturday August 12.
Elise, who is from the Driffield area, suffered life threatening injuries following the collision on the South Bound Carriageway. It occurred at 8.29am just before junction 39 (Wakefield) when the Fiesta she was travelling in was struck by a silver Vauxhall Corsa.
Tragically, she died as a result of her injuries at hospital on Friday night.
Her family paid tribute to her saying:
“Elise was a beautiful soul. She was an inspiration to others and was amazingly talented with her photography. Even at such a young age she was successful. Everything she touched turned to gold”.
Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are continuing investigations into the collision and would ask that Elise’s family are offered privacy at this time.
They continue to appeal for witnesses and would ask anyone who saw or has dashcam or phone footage of the collision to contact them on 101
