At around 1.15am this morning (Tuesday 14 July 2020) police were called to a report of a disturbance at a property on Carnforth Street, Rusholme.
Officers arrived and found an unresponsive man with head injuries collapsed on a sofa within the property.
Despite the efforts of paramedics the man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have launched a murder investigation.
A scene is in place on Carnforth Street while enquiries continue.
No arrests have been made.
Chief Inspector Andrew Butterworth of GMP’s Major Incidents Team said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family as we work to determine how he has come to lose his life.
“Our investigations are at an early stage and people in the area will notice an increased police presence over the coming days.
