Londoners are being asked for their views on plans for a new 18.5km Overground route between Hendon and Hounslow which could support 25,000 new homes and thousands of jobs.
Londoners are being invited to have their say on proposals for a new 18.5-kilometre London Overground route connecting Hendon and Hounslow.
The proposed West London Orbital would make use of an existing railway route which is currently used for freight services across West and Northwest London.
Transport for London says the project would provide a “key missing link” in the capital's rail network, creating improved connections between areas including Brent Cross, Neasden, Harlesden, Old Oak Common, Acton, Brentford and Hounslow.
New stations are proposed at Neasden, Harlesden, Old Oak Common Lane and Lionel Road, while improvements are also being considered at existing stations along the route.
According to TfL, the scheme could help support the delivery of 25,000 new homes and 11,500 jobs, contribute around £1.3 billion to the wider economy and remove an estimated 650,000 car journeys from London's roads each year.
The proposals remain at an early stage. TfL agreed earlier this year to provide £6.5 million towards further design work, modelling and public consultation.
The route is described as “orbital” because it would travel around London rather than directly into the centre, creating an arc through West and Northwest London.
TfL's Director of Investment Planning David Rowe said the consultation would allow communities to help shape the proposed route, with feedback considered as the scheme is developed further.
The public consultation opened on 23 September and runs until 18 November 2026.
