Officers have released a new image of a man they want to trace following a petrol bomb attack on a Walsall butchers shop on 27 June – Do you recognise him?
Detectives investigating the attack previously released CCTV footage of a man igniting two petrol bombs moments before they are hurled through the entrance.
Following extensive enquiries, officers now want to trace a man who was seen on CCTV buying fuel in a jerry can at a local petrol station just 40 minutes before the attack.
A Police statement said: "This person is now a significant interest to the police enquiry and investigating officers want to trace him as a matter of urgency to either eliminate him from the investigation, or check whether he has any vital information about what happened.
This was a shocking attack on a store in broad daylight and one which could easily have resulted in serious injuries or fatalities. We need to know who this man is so please call us or the independent charity Crimestoppers with information."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crime Team at Wednesfield police station on the 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
