A man who was murdered in Moss Side has now been named.
At around 5.15pm on Thursday 12 May 2016 police were called to Moss Lane East where 18-year-old Abdul Hafidah had suffered a number of serious injuries. He was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the neck and abdominal injuries, and sadly died a short time later.
Police believe Abdul was chased near to Greenheys Lane in Moss Side by a group of men. A short time later, he was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa on Moss Lane East, before being stabbed. The Corsa was later recovered on a small road off Athol Road in Whalley Range.
A post-mortem found that he died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.
Police are urging anyone with dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the incident to pass on to police and have set up a dedicated email address for people to send the footage to.
Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “We continue to offer our support and condolences to the family of the young man who sadly passed away.
“This happened during rush-hour in a busy area and we believe that people driving past may have dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the attack.
"I would urge you to check your devices and if you have any footage from around the time it happened, please pass it to police. You can do this by sending footage to https://www.dropbox.com/request/Q2SvhzecIbkkufAjFF4v or coming in to a station.
“We continue to make progress with the investigation and we would urge witnesses who think they saw anything to do with this attack to please contact our team of detectives.”
