West Yorkshire Police recorded 1,559 anti-social behaviour incidents involving fireworks over a 12-month period, while figures show just 10 arrests were made for fireworks offences.
More than 1,500 fireworks-related anti-social behaviour incidents were recorded across West Yorkshire in the space of a year, according to figures released under the Freedom of Information Act.
West Yorkshire Police logged 1,559 incidents involving anti-social behaviour relating to fireworks between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026.
During the same period, police made 10 arrests for fireworks offences.
Eight of those arrests related to people under the age of 18 possessing fireworks, while two were for possession of Category 4 fireworks, which are professional-grade fireworks not intended for sale to the general public.
West Yorkshire Police said it receives a large number of reports concerning firework noise, which are recorded as anti-social behaviour incidents involving fireworks.
The force was unable to provide a separate breakdown showing how many incidents involved fireworks being set off during prohibited hours.
Councillor Ishtiaq Ahmed, who represents Heaton and Frizinghall as part of the Your Bradford Independent Group, said the figures showed a significant level of fireworks-related anti-social behaviour, but argued more detailed data was needed to understand the scale of late-night firework use.
Local campaigner Inayah Sher also questioned whether the 1,559 reports reflected the full extent of the problem, saying some residents do not report incidents.
Bradford Council said the figures demonstrated the scale of nuisance fireworks across West Yorkshire and highlighted its Bang Out of Order campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the distress caused by anti-social firework use.
West Yorkshire Police says planning is underway with partner organisations ahead of this year's Bonfire Night, with increased patrols and operational activity planned in communities over the coming weeks.
