A man’s body was found in the canal at Apperley Bridge yesterday morning, 13 June.
Police have released details about the man as efforts continue to identify him.
Emergency services attended Dobson Locks at around 7.15am on Tuesday to a report of a body in a lock.
The body was removed and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He is described as white and in his sixties or seventies, with grey/white hair.
He was wearing a blue or grey Mountain Warehouse jacket, blue walking trousers, white socks, brown leather boots and silver rimmed glasses.
The man is believed to be local to the area.
The death is being treated as unexplained, but is not believed to be suspicious.
