A man has been jailed for shooting a man at a party put together to reveal the gender of a baby.
Aaron Ward, 26, was sentenced after pleading guilty to attempted murder at Manchester Crown Court.
His ex-girlfriend, with whom he has a child, was throwing the party with her new partner at the Harehill Tavern in Hattersley, Tameside on 17 November.
The court heard how Ward was said to be 'unhappy' that he was being 'restricted' from seeing his daughter - and that her new partner had his access to his child.
He shot a 35-year-old outside the venue following heated arguments. The victim is said to have made a good recovery.
Ward was jailed for over 20 years.
