A man has appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court charged with the attempted murder of a 40-year-old pregnant woman who was stabbed multiple times in Sutton Coldfield on Friday afternoon.
Babur Karamat Raja did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear for a further hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on 6 April.
The 41-year-old, from Sutton, is also accused of a second count of attempted murder, assault, attempted child destruction and possession of a knife in a public place.
The woman remains in critical care in hospital today (Monday 7 March) where her condition is described as stable. Her baby girl was born in hospital on Friday night and is doing well.
