A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Rochdale.
A report was made to police of the concern for the welfare of a woman at Rochdale Police Station on Thursday morning (12 April).
Officers attended an address on Alexander street and found the body of a woman.
A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Detective Inspector Dave Meeney of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “It is very early days in this investigation, and we are working to establish how this tragic incident unfolded.
“A man has been arrested, but our enquiries will continue until we have answers to the questions this woman’s family rightly deserve.
“We need the public’s help with this, please, if you have any information that could help us understand how this happened, get in touch with police.”
