At approximately 4.10am on Saturday the 11th of March, police were called to reports of a collision on Bramhall Moor Lane in the Hazel Grove area of Stockport.

Police and the ambulance service attended and found that a car had collided with a 22-year-old man. The driver of the car had then failed to stop.
The injured man was taken to hospital where he later sadly died.

Officers investigating the collision identified the vehicle as a black Audi A5. The 29 year old male driver was travelling with a 27 year old female passenger. They were both arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The driver was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. They both remain in custody.

Sergeant Paul Higgins, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said “This is an absolute tragedy. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the victim’s family. I can’t imagine what they must be going through. We have made two arrests however our investigation is still in its early stages. I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or may have dash-cam footage to get in touch with the GMP Serious Collision Investigation Unit via 101.”
