A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 21-year-old woman.
Paul Crowther, of Elm Way, Birstall, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article, following the death of Bethany Fields.
The incident which lead to Ms. Fields’ death occurred on Fitzwilliam Street on Thursday, and despite police and emergency paramedics attending the incident at around 6:12pm, she was later pronounced deceased.
35-year-old Crowther appeared in Leeds Magistrates' Court yesterday morning and is due to appear in Leeds Crown Court later today, having been charged with Ms Fields’ murder.
Following the charge, Ms Fields’ family released a statement saying: “The life of Bethany, who was a beautiful, talented, ambitious, intelligent, kind, giving, and loving daughter, was tragically taken from her.
“Bethany had a bright future ahead of her. She was studying Environmental Geography at university, travelling to Iceland to study the effects of glacial melts on the environment and to the Canary Islands to study volcanoes.
“She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, forever in our hearts and thoughts.”
